Burnley manager Sean Dyche is looking forward to facing “good friend” Mark Warburton in a pre-season friendly against Rangers at Ibrox this evening.

Today’s fixture will be the Light Blues first game under Warburton at Ibrox, and Dyche has wished his managerial counterpart well for his time at the Scottish Championship outfit.

“He [Warburton] is a very good friend of mine and obviously we wish him well up there”, said the Clarets manager to his club’s official website.

Dyche, who failed to secure Premier League safety for Burnley last season, is relishing the prospect of taking his side to Ibrox, which he feels is a “great” venue.

He says the game was originally a behind-closed-doors match before the Scottish club agreed to open it to the fans, a decision he believes will make for a “great” game.

“Originally the game might have been behind closed doors, but they agreed to open it to fans, so it will be a great game for all concerned.

“It’s a great venue and they are still a massive club, so we look forward to it”, added Dyche.

Today’s game will be Rangers’ final game of their pre-season campaign. The Light Blues start their season on Saturday at Hibernian in a Petrofac Training Cup first round tie.

They will kick-off their Championship campaign against St Mirren on the 7th of August.
