New Rangers signing James Tavernier has expressed his delight at making his debut for the Light Blues in their pre-season friendly against Burnley last night.

Tavernier was handed his first start at Ibrox and played an hour before being substituted for youngster Fraser Aird in the Gers’ 1-0 defeat to Sean Dyche’s Clarets, in what was manager Mark Warburton’s first home game in charge.

And the 23-year-old full-back has let his feelings be known via social media earlier today, believing he is "blessed".

“First game last night #RangersFamily #Blessed”, he posted on Twitter.

The defender was part of a new-look Rangers defence last night as he lined up alongside fellow new arrivals Rob Kiernan, Danny Wilson and goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.

Tavernier will be hoping to make his first competitive start for Rangers on Saturday when they travel to Edinburgh to play Hibernian in a Petrofac Training Cup first round tie at Easter Road.
