Marseille attacking midfielder Florian Thauvin is determined to disappoint Newcastle United by staying put at the Stade Velodrome this summer.

Newcastle have already seen one approach for Thauvin rebuffed by Marseille, but are claimed to be preparing a fresh approach for the Frenchman.

The Magpies are firm fans of a player who has been labelled French football's great hope by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

However, according to French outlet Maxifoot, Thauvin has no desire to quit Marseille this summer, despite continued interest from Newcastle.

Thauvin is keen to show his worth with Marseille and believes it is too soon to leave France for a foreign adventure.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle will be able to persuade Marseille to agree to sell Thauvin and then the player himself to move to St. James' Park.

Newcastle are flexing their muscles in the transfer window this summer and have just completed the signing of Aleksandar Mitrovic from Anderlecht.
