Roma have been offered the chance to sign former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic, but deem him too expensive.

Vidic joined Inter from Manchester United last summer, but has just finished a turbulent first campaign with the Nerazzurri which saw him struggle to convince in the heart of the club's defence.

His spot at the San Siro is in doubt and according to Italian daily Il Messaggero, Roma have been offered the chance to sign the tough-tackling Serbian.

But Giallorossi sporting director Walter Sabatini has knocked back any idea of snapping up Vidic.

Sabatini sees Vidic's €4m per year wages as too high, while he also believes the club should not bring in a 33-year-old defender.
