Marseille are working on a potential deal for former Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby, who is a free agent this summer following his departure from the Emirates Stadium.

Diaby saw his lengthy spell at Arsenal interrupted by numerous injury issues and was released by the Gunners at the end of the current campaign, despite speculation of a pay as you play deal.

He has been linked with several clubs, including Tony Pulis' West Brom and MLS side FC Dallas, but Diaby could end up back in his native France.

According to French sports daily L'Equipe, Marseille have been in discussions with Diaby's representatives for several weeks.

And talks have progressed to such an extent that the two parties are now talking over the financial details of a deal which would see the 29-year-old move to the Stade Velodrome.

Marseille are offering Diaby a fixed salary, but with large bonuses for the number of games played, as they keep in mind the midfielder's injury issues.

Diaby must now weigh up the offers on his table ahead of making a decision on his future.
