Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is driving his club's chase for Real Betis starlet Dani Ceballos, who he believes is a new Cesc Fabregas.

Wenger famously raided Barcelona to sign Fabregas in 2003, taking the then 16-year-old to London and fast-tracking his development.

Fabregas served Arsenal with distinction until 2011, making 303 appearances in all competitions for the club and even wearing the armband.

Now, according to Spanish daily AS, Wenger feels he may have found a new Fabregas in the form of Real Betis jewel Ceballos.

The 18-year-old only has another year left to run on his contract with the Spanish side and Real Betis are desperately trying to persuade him to pen an extension.

The Spanish outfit's urgency is being pushed along not just by Arsenal's interest in the midfielder, but also that of Italian champions Juventus, who are keen too.

Ceballos has firmly established himself in Real Betis' first team and made a total of 39 appearances in all competitions for the Seville-based club.

Los Verdiblancos won the Segunda Division last season and Real Betis hope the promise of La Liga football may help to convince him to stay put.
