West Ham United new boy Manuel Lanzini has said that he is looking to write his own story at Upton Park and is eager to ply his trade for the Hammers in the forthcoming campaign.

Lanzini has arrived from Al-Jazira of the UAE Pro League on a season-long loan and is one of the several signings this summer that include Pedro Obiang from Sampdoria, Dimitri Payet from Marseille and Angelo Ogbonna from reigning Italian champions Juventus, as the Hammers attempt to bolster their ranks for the coming season.

The midfielder has revealed that he has come to know of the Hammers from Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano, two players who had short stints at Upton Park in the last decade, adding that he is eager to write his own history at the club.

“I know the club from Argentinian players, Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez”, he told his club’s site.

“I know that the fans are very supportive, the team is very competitive and this is all important to a player’s development.

“Tevez is an amazing player. He made history here but we are very different players.

“I am here to try to make my own history for this club and have a place in the heart of the fans.

“First of all, I want to settle here, this is a very difficult and competitive league.”

The 22-year-old further added that he is eager to get on the same wavelength as his team-mates and break into the playing eleven at the earliest opportunity, adding that he has had a fruitful interaction with manager Slaven Bilic.

“It’s then about being at the same level as my team-mates and getting into the starting eleven as quickly as I can.

“I have already spoken with the manager. I told him I was looking forward to starting training, to getting fit and getting up to speed with my colleagues.

"It was great to have a chat with him.”
