Marseille have completed the signing of young Spanish full-back Javier Manquillo from Atletico Madrid.

Manquillo linked up with Premier League giants Liverpool last summer on a two-year loan deal which included the option for the Reds to keep him on a permanent basis.

But following a promising start at Anfield, Manquillo slipped out of favour under Brendan Rodgers and the Merseyside giants terminated the loan deal a year ahead of schedule this summer.

Now Manquillo has joined Marseille, penning a season-long loan deal with an option for the French giants to make the move permanent should he impress at the Stade Velodrome.

The 21-year-old managed just 17 appearances for Liverpool last season and will now aim to bounce back at Marseille by securing regular first team football.
