Ronny Deila says he is pleased with his Celtic side taking a 1-0 lead from the first leg of their Champions League third qualifying round against Azerbaijan side Qarabag this evening.

Celtic struggled to get going at Celtic Park, with Qarabag looking comfortable and enjoying good spells of possession against the Scottish champions.

Deila's men looked dangerous in patches, but failed to work the Qarabag goalkeeper, sending the Azerbaijan side in happy at the half time break with the scores locked at 0-0.

Celtic continued to huff and puff in the second half, leading to Deila bringing Leigh Griffiths and then Kris Commons on off the bench.

The hosts did eventually make the breakthrough, with Commons providing a good ball from a corner kick and defender Dedryck Boyata heading into the back of the net on the 82-minute mark.

Commons then fizzed a shot just wide as Celtic saw out the game and claimed a 1-0 win.

For Deila, claiming a 1-0 advantage in the tie has left him happy, especially when combined with keeping a clean sheet.

"I think it was a very good football game. Two good teams", he was quoted as saying by BBC Scotland.

"I'm happy that we got a clean sheet and a goal.

"We did enough to get one goal and I'm happy with that", he added.
