Real Madrid are close to completing the purchase of Real Zaragoza defender Jesus Vallejo this summer, according to Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

Vallejo is a product of Real Zaragoza’s youth academy – the club he joined in 2007 – and has gone on to captain the side in only his first season in the first team.

The youngster made 34 appearances for the Spanish second division outfit last season and helped them to a sixth placed finish.

Vallejo has been linked with a move this summer to a plethora of clubs including Barcelona, Villarreal and Valencia as well as Serie A side Udinese.

But Real Madrid are close to prising him away to the Santiago Bernabeu after agreeing to pay his €6m release clause. The youngster is expected to spend the 2015/16 season on loan at La Romareda.
