Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has said that he feels fit as a fiddle and intends to stay at the club for many more years.

Gundogan was heavily linked with a move away from Signal Iduna Park this summer, with Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United, treble-winning Barcelona, reigning German champions Bayern Munich and Arsene Wenger's Arsenal amongst the clubs most closely associated with his acquisition.

But in a swift U-turn, the Germany international decided to stay put and extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund until the summer of 2017.

And now the 24-year-old, who has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, has said that he feels on top of his powers and hasn’t ruled out staying many more years with BVB.

“I'm in my fifth year [at the club] and I feel fit as a fiddle”, he told German magazine Sport Bild.
