Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has insisted that he won’t be making a move for Mario Balotelli this summer.

While they are desperate to offload the forward after just one season, Liverpool are struggling to find buyers for their out-of-favour 24-year-old striker.

Balotelli joined the Reds last summer from AC Milan and had very little impact on the pitch, but did attract controversy off it.

One of the key factors working against Liverpool at the moment is said to be Balotelli’s wage demands and while Sampdoria were linked with a move for him, the club president ruled out the possibility of signing the forward.

“You can forget about Balotelli because he costs €10m in salary”, Massimo Ferrero told Sky Italia.

“And with €10m I can get eight Balotellis.”

Another Italian club in the form of Bologna are interested in signing the player but has stressed that the forward would need to dial down his salary demands to facilitate the move.

With the arrival of Danny Ings, Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino, Balotelli is looking increasingly sidelined at Anfield.

And Brendan Rodgers decision to omit him from the club’s pre-season tour further displayed the club’s enthusiasm to offload the striker this summer.
