Former Leeds United defender Tom Lees has been rewarded with a new contract by Sheffield Wednesday to keep him at the club for a further four years.

The defender has put pen to paper on a deal with the Owls which runs until the summer of 2019.




Leeds sold Lees to Sheffield Wednesday last summer and he quickly cemented his spot in the side at Hillsborough.

The 24-year-old made a total of 48 appearances for the Owls last season as he impressed in the side's defence.
 

 

Lees still had a further two years to run on his contract with the Championship club, but has now extended his deal.

The defender, who operates as a centre-back, but can also play at right-back, is a product of Leeds' esteemed youth system and made the breakthrough to the club's senior ranks in 2008.

He spent time out on loan with Accrington Stanley and Bury before establishing himself at Elland Road.

Lees has been capped by England at Under-21 level.
