Arsenal have officially announced that midfielder Santi Cazorla and forward Theo Walcott have put pen to paper on new contracts at the club.

Walcott has inked a deal to keep him at the Emirates Stadium until the summer of 2019, while Cazorla is also extending his stay with the Gunners.

The news is a big boost for the club ahead of the start of the new Premier League season next month and manager Arsene Wenger has been quick to welcome two key players showing their commitment to the Gunners by signing new contracts.

He told his club's site: "We’re delighted to have extended the contracts of Santi and Theo. Both are top quality players who are hugely important and influential to our squad.

"As well as their huge contributions on the pitch, they both have a great deal of experience and are very popular off the pitch. We’re very pleased with them both signing contract extensions, as it provides our squad with further stability of quality", Wenger added.

Cazorla has made a total of 148 appearances for Arsenal since he joined the club from Spanish side Malaga in 2012. The Spaniard won plaudits with his commanding displays in midfield for Arsenal last term and will look to repeat the trick in the forthcoming campaign.

Walcott meanwhile made his 300th appearance for Arsenal last term and joined the club in 2006. During his time at the Emirates Stadium he has hit the back of the net on 76 occasions. He also scored in the club's FA Cup final win over Aston Villa last season.
