Ronny Deila has eased injury fears around striker Leigh Griffiths, who was forced off after just 19 minutes in Celtic's 2-0 Scottish Premiership win over Ross County earlier today.

Griffiths scored Celtic's first goal of the game in the fourth minute, converting from the penalty spot. But he suffered a knock and soon could not continue, being replaced by Stefan Scepovic.

Concerns were instantly expressed over whether Griffiths will be fit for Celtic's crucial Champions League game on Wednesday, which sees them take a 2-0 lead to Qarabag of Azerbaijan in their third qualifying round second leg tie.

But Deila claims the striker should be ready for action.

"Leigh Griffiths should be back on Wednesday for an important game as his knock isn’t anything serious", Deila said via his club's site.

"It’s nothing pulled, it’s just a knock in the muscle in the calf.

"He needs only three or four minutes now to score which is good! He will get a lot of playing time. We need all our players going into the next games", the Norwegian added.

Deila also provided an update on other key players, especially Kris Commons, who started against Ross County on the bench, declaring him not yet ready to start games.

"Kris came on in the last game and made a difference.

"It’s too early to start him but he will be on the bench and he can come in and affect the game for sure.

"[Nir] Bitton is no problem and will be ready. We are not 100 per cent sure about Charlie [Mulgrew] yet. The positive thing is that it isn’t a big injury and he will be back in the coming week.

"[Mikael] Lustig is training well. We play him once a week and everything is going the right way with him as well."

Celtic's 2-0 win against Ross County means they continue their streak of having won their first game of the Scottish Premiership season every season since 1997.
