Uwe Rosler has expressed his delight at Leeds United's 2-0 friendly victory over Premier League outfit Everton at Elland Road today, but has urged the club's fans to keep their feet on the ground.

The Whites, taking on an Everton team littered with youngsters due to Duncan Ferguson's testimonial tomorrow, grabbed their first win of pre-season in front of 17,000 Leeds fans.

Goals for the Whites came from Alex Mowatt (57th minute), a good finish after a one-two with Sam Byram in the penalty area, and new signing Chris Wood (80th minute), hitting a shot from 25-yards out which took a deflection and looped over the Toffees goalkeeper.

Following draws against Harrogate Town and York City, along with defeats to Eintracht Frankfurt and Hoffenheim, the win puts Leeds in good spirits heading into next weekend's Championship opener against Burnley.

Rosler feels that the progress his side have made over pre-season is clear to see. However, he does still feel that there is a way to go, even if he is happy at the togetherness at the club.

He told LUTV: "I think it was another step forward, we continued improving. We're not where we want to be, but we are coming closer and closer.

"Everton had some younger players in, but some experienced players in also.

"The main thing is that we are all marching together in the same direction and from day one that has been the case."

And on being ready to taste defeat as well as victory, Rosler explained he wants expectations to be managed: "We can't lose our feet on the ground when we win against Everton, but we also can't lose our head when we lose a game."

The German manager was also impressed with how many fans attended Elland Road to take in the friendly, calling it something new for him.

"We filled the stadium today. It's something new for me in a friendly."
