Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has hailed his team's 1-0 win over Chelsea in the FA Community Shield today and says they have learned from last season.

The Gunners took control of the match from the off, with the Blues struggling to trouble their opponents and also failing to threaten the Arsenal defence.

Arsenal made their dominance count after 24 minutes when Theo Walcott picked out Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who made space to shoot and cracked his shot into the back of the net.

Chelsea had no response and headed in at half time 1-0 down and not having had a shot at goal.

The Blues brought on Radamel Falcao at half time and did produce a better second half display, though Arsenal continued to look dangerous.

Chelsea did enjoy chances, but the Blues could not take advantage, while Thibaut Courtois stopped the Gunners from extending their lead.

Neither side could find another goal and it finished 1-0 to Arsenal.

For Walcott, the game showed that Arsenal have learned how to win the big games from last season and he told BBC Radio 5 live: "It's nice to get in the winning attitude. We've had a good pre-season.

"Some people may say we've not had enough games, but we competed with the best today.

"We've learned from last year and defend as a unit. We know we can score goals and if we can keep it tight we can always get results like this."

And Walcott says that Arsenal are sure they can win the Premier League next season.

"Of course, definitely. We've got so much belief in this team."
