Sheffield Wednesday are set to complete the signing of Senegalese winger-cum-striker Modou Sougou from French giants Marseille.

Sougou spent last term on loan at Evian, but still has a further year on his contract at parent club Marseille. Nevertheless, the attacker is surplus to requirements at the Stade Velodrome and is moving to England.

According to French sports daily L'Equipe, the 30-year-old hitman is due in England later today, where he will then agree a deal with Sheffield Wednesday.

Sougou started his senior career in Portugal with Uniao Leiria, making his debut against giants Benfica.

Following time at Vitoria and Academica, Sougou moved to Romania to turn out for CFR Cluj, playing in the Champions League for the side.

His exploits in Romania earned him a big-money move to France with Marseille and the striker penned a three-year deal with the Ligue 1 giants in 2013.

Sougou has slipped out of favour at Marseille though and will now aim to relaunch his career in the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday.
