Borussia Dortmund have joined the chase for the signature of out of favour Inter Milan winger Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Nerazzurri are actively seeking to offload the player, who joined the club from Bayern Munich in January this year.

Stoke City had a bid accepted by Inter last month for Shaqiri, but the Swiss international rejected a transfer to the Britannia Stadium.

Bundesliga outfit Schalke are keen to take him back to Germany this summer and are working hard to convince both the club and the player to accept their offer.

However, they are set to face stiff competition for the former Bayern Munich man’s signature from traditional rivals Dortmund, who are claimed to be taking a keen interest in the player.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, BVB have already enquired with Inter about Shaqiri and are considering making an offer for the Swiss international this summer.

While staying at Inter remains his preferred choice, Shaqiri is reportedly ready to move back to Germany if a deal can be agreed soon.

Inter are believed to be looking for a fee of around €15m to sanction his sale.
