Juventus target Javier Mascherano’s agent has revealed that his client wants to move to a big Italian club.

The Argentine international was one of the key members of Luis Enrique’s treble winning Barcelona side and is expected to play an important role in the upcoming campaign too.

However, the defensive midfielder has emerged as a target for Juventus and the Italian champions are eyeing the possibility of taking him to Turin this summer.

Barcelona and Enrique are unlikely to allow Mascherano to leave, especially with the club barred from signing new players until January, but the defender’s representatives are singing a different tune.

Gustavo Mascardi, one of his representatives, revealed that the Argentine would like to experience Italian football and has asked his entourage to look for big club in Italy.

While he didn’t elaborate whether Mascherano wants to leave this summer, his agent insisted that there is no problem with Barcelona and his client only wants to fulfill a lifelong dream of playing at a big Italian club in his career.

“Mascherano would like an experience with a big Italian club”, Mascardi told Tuttosport.

“In recent weeks I’ve talked with Mascherano and [Walter] Tamer, one of this agents. They asked me to try and find a big Serie A team, because Javier would like to end his European career by winning with an Italian club.

“There aren’t any problems with Barcelona, he’s a leader there.

“It’s simply that Mascherano, as with many Argentines his age, grew up following the Italian league, and after playing in England and winning everything in Spain, he’d be fascinated by an adventure in Italy."

While his agent’s words are expected to provide encouragement to Juventus, Barcelona are highly unlikely to sell the 31-year-old this summer.

And with a contract until 2018, the Catalan giants can afford to maintain their tough stance regarding Mascherano.
