Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed that David de Gea won’t play against Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow.

De Gea’s future has been a topic of discussion over the last few months as Real Madrid are actively seeking to prise him away from Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United and Real Madrid have so far failed to reach an agreement over a fee and the Spanish giants believe that the Red Devils are asking for too much money for a player who has only one year left on his contract with the club.

While there are rumours that Manchester United are confident of keeping the player for one more season, Van Gaal revealed that De Gea won’t play against Tottenham tomorrow.

The Dutchman indicated that with his future remaining unresolved, De Gea’s head is not at the right place and believes playing him wouldn’t be a smart option.

"He shall not play, so I don't have any concerns”, Van Gaal said in a press conference.

“You know that we have problems with De Gea.

“The Dutch journalists can confirm that I think a human being is more than only a player and he cannot manage that."

Van Gaal would like to keep the player but he would also want to resolve the situation as soon as possible.

With De Gea not being considered for selection, new signing Sergio Romero could make his debut for the club tomorrow at Old Trafford.
