In front of over 49,000 at Ibrox, Rangers got off to a positive start in their Scottish Championship campaign by beating St Mirren 3-1 tonight, leaving midfielder Andy Halliday delighted.

It took just four minutes for Rangers to take the lead when Lee Wallace took advantage of a loose ball to find the back of the net.

He scored a second in the 26th minute, breaking through to find the back of the net, before St Mirren then pulled one back through Cameron Howieson two minutes later.

Rangers dominated possession and shots on goal, but had to wait until the 90th minute to fully seal the deal when Dean Shiels scrambled home a third goal for the hosts.

Rangers had claimed a 3-1 win and Halliday, who played all 90 minutes at Ibrox, has delighted with the victory.
