Ahead of tomorrow’s European Super Cup clash against Barcelona, Sevilla manager Unai Emery has said that the match gives his side a chance to start their season with a trophy, but he conceded that the Catalans will be favourites.

Barcelona enjoyed a scintillating campaign last season as they won a treble of the league title, the Copa de Rey and the Champions League. Their defeat of Juventus in the final of the European Cup in Berlin in June qualified them for tomorrow’s tie.

Sevilla also enjoyed a successful campaign last term and finished fifth in the Spanish league standings, however, they won their second successive Europa League after defeating Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in the final. The win qualified them for the group stage of the Champions League as well as the European Super Cup clash.

The two Spanish giants will lock horn in Tbilisi for the trophy and Emery feels that his team have a chance to start their season with a trophy win, but conceded that Barcelona will indeed be favourites in the one-off match.

“First of all, we're starting the season knowing we have the chance to win a trophy in our first match”, he was quoted as saying by AS.
