James Milner still talks regularly about Leeds United, something which has helped to form a bond with Gary McAllister at Liverpool.

Both Milner and McAllister joined Liverpool earlier this summer, Milner arriving on a free transfer following the conclusion of his contract at Manchester City and McAllister succeeding Mike Marsh as first team coach at Anfield.

McAllister is a big fan of Milner and believes their shared Leeds United past has helped the duo forge a close bond, something also helped by the fact they are both familiar with the Leeds area.

The first team coach revealed to the club's site: "He’s a Leeds boy, he still talks about Leeds United and I still live in the Leeds area so we’ve got that little bit in common."

McAllister also saluted Milner's professionalism, which he has witnessed first hand this summer.

"His professionalism in the opening three or four weeks that I’ve been here has been outstanding."

Milner started his career in the youth ranks at Leeds and turned out for the club's senior side until 2004, when he joined Newcastle United.

McAllister meanwhile joined Leeds as a player in 1990 and spent six years with the club. He then returned for a managerial stint in 2008.
