Arsene Wenger has backed Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech to bounce back from his disastrous Premier League debut with the Gunners last weekend.

Cech was part of the Arsenal side which went down to a 2-0 defeat at home against West Ham and was particularly culpable for one of the goals as he charged out to meet a ball floated in from a free kick only to miss by some distance and leave his goal gaping for the Hammers to score.

The Czech Republic international quickly vowed to work hard to bounce back and Wenger believes he has all the ingredients needed to recover from his howler.

"He analyses very well", Wenger told a press conference this morning.

"He's a bright man and he knows that it is down to how well he responds", the Arsenal manager added.

On a team level, Wenger believes Arsenal can bounce back too when they lock horns with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday and does not think too much was missing from their performance against West Ham.

"We were defensively quite sound but we made two mistakes we paid for. We were not creative or accurate enough.

"We have shown that we have the quality to respond, so let's focus on that on Sunday. It's how you respond that makes your season", he added.
