David de Gea is ready to turn his back on €14m to join Real Madrid this summer.

The Spanish shot-stopper has only a year left to run on his contract at Manchester United, but has refused to sign an extension as he wants to return to his homeland with Los Blancos.

According to Spanish daily Marca, De Gea would earn €14m more if he remained at Old Trafford and signed a new contract.

€14m is reported to be the difference between the contract Real Madrid are offering De Gea and that put on the table by Manchester United.

De Gea has already signed off on a contract worth just above €5m per season at the Bernabeu and is keen to complete a move.

But Manchester United do not want to sell De Gea for less than €40m, something which has led to deadlock in talks between the two clubs.

De Gea's agent Jorge Mendes has assured the goalkeeper though that Real Madrid will do all they can to sign him before the transfer window closes.
