Chelsea new boy Pedro Rodriguez has revealed that Jose Mourinho and Cesc Fabregas helped him to make up his mind about arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Despite Manchester United holding a serious interest in the forward, Chelsea swiftly moved in to agree a deal with Barcelona and take the Spaniard to west London.

It had been claimed that Chelsea boss Mourinho personally spoke to Pedro to turn the transfer tide towards Stamford Bridge and the forward has confirmed that was indeed the case.

He revealed that the Chelsea boss personally called him a number of times, a gesture he appreciated and said that he is looking forward to playing under the former Real Madrid manager in England.

"He phoned me a few times and said he needed me to make the team stronger", the 28-year-old told the club’s official website.

"He has won titles wherever he has been. I am really looking forward to playing under him and hopefully winning more titles."

The 28-year-old also said that Chelsea midfielder Fabregas, his former Barcelona team-mate, also played a key role in helping him to make up his mind about joining the Premier League champions.

"I spoke to Cesc", said Pedro.

"We are very good friends. I knew I would feel at home here and that was one of the main reasons why I decided to join.”

Chelsea will be looking to recover from their demoralising loss to Manchester City last weekend, when they take on West Brom away from home on Sunday.

It remains to be seen whether Pedro is allowed to make his debut for Chelsea against the Baggies.
