Rangers have confirmed that Marius Zaliukas has left the club by mutual consent today.

The former Leeds United defender has been out of favour at Ibrox under new manager Mark Warburton and as such is heading elsewhere in search of a new challenge.

Zaliukas spent one year as a Rangers player and made 28 appearances in all competitions for the Light Blues last season.

The Lithuanian clocked up two goals along the way, netting against Queen of the South and Livingson in the Scottish Championship.

Zaliukas did feature in pre-season for Rangers this year and turned out in a friendly fixture against Burnley at Ibrox.

The game proved to be the 31-year-old's final in a Rangers shirt and he is heading elsewhere this summer, though he is not bound by the transfer window system as a free agent and is able to sign after the window closes.

Zaliukas joined Rangers from Leeds United last year.
