Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic is closing on a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce and could undergo a medical with the Istanbul side on Saturday.

Markovic was snapped up by Liverpool from Portuguese giants Benfica last summer for £20m, but has not been handed regular first team football by Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.

And now he could be set to head to Fenerbahce in order to receive it as, according to Sky Italia, Liverpool are in talks with the Turkish club over a season-long loan deal.

Markovic could undergo a medical with Fenerbahce on Saturday if a switch can be finalised between the two clubs.

The Serbian winger was not included in Liverpool's matchday squad for Monday night's 0-0 draw away at Arsenal.

Markovic had been tipped for big things when he arrived at Anfield and also counted Chelsea amongst his suitors while at Benfica.

But the winger has struggled to secure regular playing time at Liverpool. There is no word however on whether the loan deal would contain a purchase option.
