Lokomotiv Moscow striker Oumar Niasse is disappointed at his side not drawing Liverpool in their Europa League group.

The Russian side have been slotted into Group H, which includes Sporting Lisbon, Besiktas and Albanian minnows Skenderbeu, but the Lokomotiv forward wanted Liverpool.

Niasse insisted that when he saw Liverpool were not in his side's group he did not care who they come up against anymore as he was desperate to take on the Reds from Merseyside in the Europa League.

“I wanted Liverpool”, the Senegalese striker was quoted as saying by Futbol Arena.

“I didn’t happen, so the rest are not important.”

While not getting the opportunity to face Liverpool is disappointing, Niasse admits that Sporting Lisbon and Besiktas should provide a stiff challenge in the group and stressed that Lokomotiv Moscow are aiming to make it to the round of 32 at least this season.

The striker added: “Sporting Lisbon and Besiktas are good teams, with a large fan base.

“We want to qualify from the group.”

Niasse’s favoured opponents, Liverpool, have been placed Group B alongside Russia’s Rubin Kazan, France’s Bordeaux and Switzerland’s Sion.

With no Champions League football this season, Reds manager Brendan Rodgers will be keen to see his team have a strong Europa League campaign to satisfy their supporters’ hunger for European football.
