Emanuele Giaccherini is set to soon seal a switch away from Sunderland by joining Bologna on loan.

The former Juventus winger has been chased by the Rossoblu throughout the summer, but the Italian club have had difficulty doing a deal with Sunderland.

But there has been a breakthrough and according to Sky Italia, Giaccherini will undergo a medical with Bologna tomorrow before putting pen to paper on a loan deal.

The loan does not include a purchase option, but when Giaccherini returns to England next summer he will have only a single year left on his contract with the Black Cats.

As such, Giaccherini should be able to seal a permanent move away from the Stadium of Light for a knockdown price, if he wishes to leave.
