Aston Villa could make a move for out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor later today.

The Villans have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs this summer and it has been suggested that they are expected to announce the signature of defender Joleon Lescott from West Brom today.

However, Lescott might not be the last bit of business Tim Sherwood will conduct today, as the Villa boss could still be in the market for a striker and he could make a move for a familiar face.

According to BBC West Midlands Sport 95.6, the Villans could try to secure the signature of Togo international Adebayor from Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day, in addition to that of Lescott.

The Aston Villa manager is looking for a proven Premier League performer and is ready to take a gamble on Adebayor on the last day of the transfer window.

The former Arsenal striker is out of favour with Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs and has not featured in any of their matchday squads so far this season.

Tottenham are keen to listen to offers for Adebayor and could welcome Villa’s move for him today.
