Everton have officially confirmed the signing of winger Aaron Lennon from Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent deal.

Lennon spent the second half of last term on loan at the Toffees and impressed boss Roberto Martinez enough for the club to make a bid to sign him permanently.

And Everton have succeeded, signing the winger for an undisclosed fee from Spurs.

Lennon has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Martinez's side and will aim to quickly force his way into the side on Merseyside.

Martinez is delighted with the signing of the winger and told his club's official site: "We are delighted to welcome Aaron back to Everton. We know we are getting a player our fans know inside out.

"He had a major role in the second half of our season and we're looking forward to Aaron kicking on and continuing to enjoy his football, as well as being the productive player we know he can be."

Lennon made 12 starts and two appearances from the bench during his loan spell with Everton last term and becomes the second player the club have signed on transfer deadline day following the capture of defender Ramiro Funes Mori from River Plate.

The 28-year-old clocked up over 350 appearances for Spurs during his time at White Hart Lane.
