Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk is expected to complete his move to Southampton later today.

The Saints have been in talks with the Scottish champions over a deal for the Dutch defender, but are yet to reach an agreement over a fee.




However, according to the Press Association, the 24-year-old is expected to secure his move to St. Mary’s Stadium on deadline day today.

Southampton are confident that they will be able reach an agreement with Celtic and complete the formalities of the transfer by 18:00 PM today, the time when the transfer window slams shut in England.

Van Dijk’s future at Celtic has been a source of speculation for some time and he was even linked with a move away from the club during the winter transfer window.

And the defender is finally ready to take the step up to the Premier League with Southampton today.

Van Dijk joined the Scottish champions from FC Groningen in 2013 and has been one of the most consistent performers at Celtic part over the last two seasons.
