Leeds United striker Chris Wood has told the club's fans they must be ready for bumps in the road before the Whites reach their eventual destination.

Though Leeds are unbeaten in the Championship after their first five games, they have also only won one match which means a haul of seven points, six fewer than leaders Brighton.

The signs have been bright though and £3m summer signing Wood has already been amongst the goals, hitting a superb winner last weekend as Leeds grabbed a 2-1 victory at Derby County.

Wood says Leeds are working hard on the training pitch, but he has warned that tough times will lie ahead as the Whites try to push for promotion to the Premier League.

The New Zealand international told LUTV: "It’s going to take time – we’re building something here.

"It’s not going to happen overnight, it’s going to take weeks on the training pitches and in games.

"It’s not always going to go well but we’re building towards our future and that’s what we’re looking forward to. We’re doing well so far.

"We’ve got some great players here and it was nice that we could hang on to all of them. That’s what we need.

"We need a full squad and everybody working hard together", Wood added.

Leeds are next in action following the international break when they take on Brentford at Elland Road and will look to clock up back-to-back league wins.
