Leeds United have officially confirmed that Paul Hart has taken over at the new head of the club's academy.

Hart ran Leeds' academy set-up in the 1990s with much success and now makes a return to Elland Road in a bid to shape the next generation of talents.

The 62-year-old, who has extensive managerial experience, has been welcomed by Leeds executive director Adam Pearson, who feels that the academy is now in good shape to move forward after already appointing a series of other coaches over the summer months.

"We are delighted to welcome Paul Hart back to the club", Pearson told LUTV.

"Paul was an outstanding leader of the academy in the past and he has a wealth of experience to develop not only our young players but what is now a talented group of young coaches", Pearson continued.

"We have recruited three fine new coaches in John Anderson, Andy Gray and Daral Pugh. They are all good characters who I know well and who will really strengthen what is already a strong coaching team.

"We have some fine talent in the academy with recruitment expert Terry Potter continuing to unearth talent and we are delighted that Paul is returning to head up what is now a very strong academy set-up."

During his prior spell at the club Hart led the club's youngsters to success in the FA Youth Cup in both 1993 and 1997.

He was hailed for his role in helping to develop Jonathan Woodgate, Paul Robinson, Harry Kewell, Stephen McPhail and Alan Smith, all of whom turned out for Leeds' senior side.

Hart started his new role at Leeds' Thorp Arch complex earlier today.
