Vasco da Gama coach Jorginho has confirmed that his side are signing free agent winger Urby Emanuelson and admits he is looking forward to being able to call upon the Dutchman.

Emanuelson, who counts Ajax and AC Milan amongst his former clubs, had spells with Roma and Atalanta in Serie A last term, but has been on the lookout for a new side this summer.

He had been linked with English Championship giants Leeds United, but no move to the Whites materialised and he is now heading to Brazil.

Jorginho cannot wait to be able to call upon Emanuelson, especially as his side are rock bottom of Brazil's Serie A table and having a torrid campaign.

"I hope to be able to count on him as early as next week", Jorginho was quoted as saying by Calcio Mercato.

Emanuelson started his career in the youth ranks at Ajax before breaking through into the first team.

He made 255 appearances for the Amsterdam giants before moving to Italy with AC Milan and winning the Serie A title in his first season in the country.
