PSV Eindhoven defender Hector Moreno has apologised to Manchester United defender Luke Shaw after his tackle left the youngster with two fractures in his leg, ruling him out of action for several months.

Manchester United took on the Dutch giants at the Phillips Stadion last night in a Champions League clash and succumbed to a 2-1 loss at the hands of the reigning Eredivisie champions, but they also suffered a massive setback as Shaw has been ruled out for a long time after his leg injury.

Moreno, who broke his leg during last summer’s World Cup in Brazil, has apologised to the England international for his involvement in the accident.

"I just feel really bad because I was involved in the accident”, he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

“I feel really sorry.

"I think I played the ball, but in this kind of situation I don't care if it was a foul.

"I feel bad for him, for his family”, he concluded.

Shaw has undergone surgery in Eindhoven and will continue his early treatment in the Netherlands.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a good 2015/16 campaign up until his injury and had gone on to make eight appearances across all competitions.
