Sassuolo are not thinking of trying to convince Juventus to allow Simone Zaza to move back to the club in the winter transfer window, sporting director Giovanni Carnevali insists.

Zaza was the subject of interest from English Premier League duo Arsenal and West Ham during the summer transfer window, but chose to stay put to fight for his place at Juventus.

So far though Zaza has struggled for game time, sitting on the bench four times in five games and only being brought on in the fifth match for a period of seven minutes.

Speculation is rife that Sassuolo may attempt to re-sign Zaza, with young hitman Domenico Berardi heading the other way.

But Carnevali has sought to play down such suggestions.

He told Radio Uno: "At the moment there is no truth to that. We have not spoken to Juventus about that.

"We have not been thinking about Zaza coming back, we made our decisions."

Should Zaza continue to warm the bench for Juventus and struggle for first team minutes, speculation over a move elsewhere for the striker in the new year is sure to pick up pace, especially with Euro 2016 on the horizon next summer.
