Arsenal are set to renew their interest in Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his defensive options.

The Italy Under-21 defender impressed during his loan spell at Empoli last season and caught the eye of a number of top clubs across Europe.

Arsenal were interested in the young defender and explored options to sign him, but Juventus were in no mood to sell their talented youngster this summer.

However, the defender is yet to play for the Italian champions this season and has been warming their bench, which is believed to have frustrated Rugani.

And according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Arsenal are set to try their luck again with Juventus with a new offer for the 21-year-old defender soon.

Wenger is a fan of the young defender and is keen to take him to the Emirates to bolster his defensive options.

There are no clues that he wants to leave Juventus for more first team football, but there is speculation that the defender is keen to earn more minutes on the pitch.

Juventus are still unwilling to negotiate, but it remains to be seen whether Arsenal can exert enough pressure in January to prise Rugani away from the Italian champions.
