Liverpool linked winger Eduardo Salvio’s agent has revealed that his client could be back in action in February next year.

The winger was extensively linked with Liverpool and the Reds were said to have been prepared to pay a fee of around €35m to take the Benfica man to Anfield this summer.

However, the deal had to be called off as the Argentine suffered a career-threatening knee injury in the last game of the 2014/15 Portuguese Primeira Liga season.

Salvio had to undergo surgery and there was speculation that Liverpool could come back for the player in January, if he regained his fitness.

However, it seems that possibility might also be out of the window at the moment, as his agent revealed that is client might not be back in action until February next year.

Speaking to A Bola, Augustin Jimenez said: “If all goes according to plan, he will be back in action in February 2016.”

Liverpool could renew their interest in the winger next summer if Salvio succeeds in proving his fitness in the second half of this season at Benfica.

Salvio has made 149 appearances for the Eagles and has a contract until 2017 with the club.
