Newcastle United midfielder Sylvain Marveaux will make his comeback in an Under-21 game for the Magpies today after recovering from a long-term injury.

The Frenchman has been out of action since pre-season and is finally set to feature in a match this season as Newcastle United's Under-21 side prepare to play Swansea City at Whitley Park later today.

Marveaux spent last season on a loan spell at Guingamp of the French top flight and went on to play 33 games for the club, scoring three times and assisting a further six in the process.

He has been at St. James’ Park since 2011 and has made 57 appearances for the Magpies during his time at the club.

Newcastle held reigning champions Chelsea to a 2-2 draw in their last league fixture on Saturday.

And Marveaux, who resumed training earlier this month after his pre-season injury, will be eager to force his way into the reckoning for the first team with his performance for the Under-21s.

Newcastle are currently sitting 19th in the league standings and are still looking for their first win of the season after four defeats and three draws from their first seven games so far.
