Borussia Monchengladbach interim head coach Andre Schubert has backed his side to get a result against Manchester City tomorrow.

Gladbach made a horrendous start to the season, suffering five defeats on the trot during the opening weeks of the campaign and the run of results led to the resignation of their former boss Lucien Favre.

Schubert took charge of the team following Favre’s departure and the club have shown signs of recovering from their horrendous run of form.

Die Fohlen won their last two games against Augsburg and Stuttgart and are in form going into their crucial Champions League group game against Manchester City.

Gladbach suffered a 3-0 demolition at the hand of Sevilla on matchday one, but Schubert is confident that they can get a result against Manuel Pellegrini’s men at Borussia-Park tomorrow.

He stressed that if they can stick to their plans and execute them properly, then there is no reason why his team cannot get all three points against the English giants.

“We are of course looking forward to the match, it will be a great challenge”, Schubert told the club’s official website.

“The best thing about football is when you have a game plan as a team and can execute it out on the pitch. If you do so, then you have the chance even against the strongest of opposition.

“We want to try and get something on Wednesday and I am unbeaten against Manchester City [laughs].

“We drew 1-1 against their youth side with our U23s in the Premier League International Cup most recently.”

Despite losing three of their last four games, Manchester City are aware that anything less than a win at Borussia-Park will put them in a precarious position in the group, especially after losing on matchday one against Juventus at the Etihad.
