Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal believes Arsenal have it in them to bounce back from their midweek Champions League disappointment.

Arsene Wenger’s men suffered a demoralising 3-2 defeat at the hands of Olympiacos at home on Tuesday night, which has put their Champions League future in jeopardy.

Manchester United on the other hand fought back from behind to record a hard fought win over Wolfsburg on Wednesday and got their European campaign back on track.

However, Van Gaal doesn’t believe the midweek results will have any kind of a bearing on tomorrow’s game at the Emirates and feels Arsenal have the mental toughness to leave their European disappointments behind them.

When asked whether Arsenal’s defeat in the Champions League will have an effect tomorrow, Van Gaal told MUTV: “I don’t know; I am here, not there.

“But I think Arsenal have the ability to come back from a defeat.”

Manchester United are currently leading the Premier League table on 16 points, but Arsenal are aware that a win tomorrow would put them level on points with Van Gaal’s men.

However, the Gunners have failed to score a win over Manchester United in the league since they suffered a demoralising 8-2 defeat at Old Trafford in the 2011/12 season.
