Liverpool striker Danny Ings feels his side's defence was superb today in a 1-1 draw with Everton and believes the point is a good one for the Reds.

The game was hard fought from the off at Goodison Park, but while Everton seemed to enjoy good periods of possession it was Liverpool who offered the greater goal threat.

And the Reds did take the lead when Ings struck in the 42nd minute, finding space to head home from close range after being left unmarked.

Liverpool could not hold onto their lead though and on the stroke of half time Everton were level when Romelu Lukaku took advantage of poor defending from a Gerard Deulofeu cross to strike the ball into the back of the net.

The game continued to be hard fought in the second half and Everton had reason to feel Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva should have been sent off. He was substituted by the Reds after one swipe at a Toffees player, in a nod from Brendan Rodgers that he was on thin ice.
