Former Norway striker Jan Age Fjortoft says he has been told that Jurgen Klopp will become Liverpool's new manager.

Brendan Rodgers was sacked as Liverpool boss earlier today following his side's 1-1 draw against Everton in the Merseyside derby.

The Northern Irishman paid the price for splashing the cash on numerous occasions since his appointment in 2012, but failing to deliver a trophy and providing only one top four finish.

Klopp has been strongly tipped to replace Rodgers and Fjortoft claims he knows that the former Borussia Dortmund coach is taking over.

The ex-Norway hitman wrote on Twitter: "Am told, by my German source, that Klopp will be the next manager of Liverpool Football Club."
