Birmingham City winger Demarai Gray has expressed his satisfaction at being able to score his first goal of the season for his team against Leeds United.

The youngster opened the scoring against the hosts in the 31st minute as his side managed to pile on the misery on Whites boss Uwe Rosler, winning the match 2-0 in the end.

The match against the Peacocks was Gray's tenth in the league this season and winger insists that to finally add to his goal tally was a very nice feeling.

The 19-year-old also took time to reveal that he had been putting in extra effort in training every single day to make that moment happen.

The manager's role was also instrumental according to Gray, who he insists has been telling him to smash the ball the moment he got a yard of free space, which was what happened this weekend.

"I think I've needed that goal, to get my confidence up a bit more", Gray told his club's official website.

"Obviously, in training, it's what I'm working on all the time and the gaffer said before the game, as soon as you get a yard just smash it and obviously it's paid off today."

The win took Birmingham City up to fourth spot in the Championship table while Leeds were pushed back to 16th after ten matches.
