Former West Ham United midfielder Joe Cole has heaped praise on the club’s summer signing Dimitri Payet, saying the Hammers will be able to get the best years of the 28-year-old’s career.
Payet has landed at the Upton Park outfit from Marseille of the French Ligue 1 and hasn’t taken much time to find his feet in the Premier League, having scored four times and provided three assists from his eight league appearances so far.
Cole, who spent some time in the French league with Lille, has lauded the Frenchman for his technique and exceptional quality.
“He is an exceptional player and technically very gifted”, the 33-year-old was quoted as saying by the West Ham United website.
“I'm not surprised how well he has settled in”, he added.

The former England international further added that West Ham are going to get the best of their 28-year-old midfielder during his time at the club, and he is confident that Payet will score as well as provide his team-mates with numerous goalscoring opportunities.
“He is coming to the club at a good age at 28 and West Ham have got his peak years. He is a French international and the fans will be really excited about watching him.
“I know the football has flowed this year and there have been plenty of goals and he will definitely get on the scoresheet and give the final pass as well”, Cole concluded.
