Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez has revealed there is no certainty that the Catalans will be able to field Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal in their first match of the coming year.

The Catalan outfit are currently under a FIFA-imposed two-transfer window ban that prevents them from registering new players. The ban remains in effect until January.

And it has now come to light that there is a lack of clarity on the exact date that Barcelona will be allowed to register new players.

The reigning Spanish and European champions signed Turan and Vidal in the summer transfer window and may add more players to their squad in January.

They will be up against Espanyol in a Catalan derby in the league on 2nd January and Fernandez has revealed that it is not clear if coach Luis Enrique will be able to call upon the services of his summer signings.
