Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet insists he is completely in the dark on Liverpool's efforts to appoint Jurgen Klopp as manager.

The Belgium international was taken to Anfield by Brendan Rodgers, who was sacked by Liverpool on Sunday evening after a 1-1 draw with Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Mignolet could soon be working under Klopp as Liverpool put the finishing touches to a three-year contract for the former Borussia Dortmund coach.

But the goalkeeper, who is on international duty with Belgium, insists he is in the dark over what is going on back on Merseyside.

He told Het Belang van Limburg: "I don't know anything.

"This is something that is happening above my head.

"I'm currently busy with the national team."

Mignolet has often come in for criticism due to his performances at Liverpool and the Belgian will be looking to quickly win Klopp over if the German does move into the dugout at Anfield.

Klopp could be confirmed as the new Liverpool manager by the end of this week on a three-year contract and would lead the Reds for the first time against Tottenham Hotspur on 17th October.
